St. Mikulas 2010

Come and celebrate the tradition of St. Mikuláš with delicious food, music, and culture. The event is always fun for the children, who will receive a traditional gift package from the club as well as a visit from St. Mikulas himself. Non-members are always welcome as we observe this annual Czech and Slovak event.

Door Prize: Honorary Consul Ross Marine of the Slovak Republic is donating six English/Slovak dictionaries to be awarded to lucky attendees


2:00-2:30 – Gather and musical entertainment by members of the Sugar Creek Tamburitzans
2:30-3:15 – Potluck Meal – We ask that each family bring a dish as follows:

    Last name A through J – meat/main dish
    K through R – vegetable/salad
    S through Z – dessert/appetizer

The club will provide soft drinks, plates, and other utensils
3:15-4:00 – Visit from St. Mikulas, children’s gifts, and other activities – Please bring a wrapped gift for each of your children with his or her name on it and with a suggested maximum value of 10$


Kids, can you sing a song, read a poem, tell a story, do a trick? Then share your talents with St. Mikulas on this celebration day.

Don Lipovac, a graduate of the Kansas City Conservatory of Music with degrees in theory and education, performed at Carnegie Hall and represented America as a U.S. accordion champion at the 1958 World Fair in Brussels, Belgium. He has also been the director of the St. John Tamburitzans for more than 35 years. He received the Polka Hall of Fame Award at Iron World Chisholm, Minnesota, in 1992 and a National Cleveland-Style Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing him for preserving and promoting Slovenian Cultural Heritage in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2006.

The Christmas Party will take place at Mejak Hall, 513 Ohio St., Kansas City, KS. Dinner will be held from 5:30 PM until 10:00 PM, and the price per person is 25$. Everyone is welcome!
