Club News

Dear Members,

On Monday, September 10th, we will be co-sponsoring a program with the Kansas City Library and Missouri Humanities Council to honor Czech film Director Milos Forman. The September event will start with a reception at 6 PM at the Plaza branch of the KC Library and will include a talk by film critic David Thomson. Afterwards, there will be a showing of Forman’s most decorated film, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Our club received a grant from the Missouri Humanities Council to help support the program. Come early to enjoy some beer, wine, and hors d’oeuvres, and watch the movie with fellow club members. The general public is also welcome and the cost is free. More information about this program is below and on the attachment.

Also, we are also teaming up with the KC Library and Missouri Humanities Council to honor the first president of Czechoslovakia after the Velvet Revolution, Vaclav Havel. More information on this program will be sent out soon but please mark Friday, October 5th, on your calendars. This program will take place at the Downtown KC Library.

Finally, our annual St. Mikulas celebration will be held on Sunday, December 2, at the Sylvester Powell Community Center in Mission, Kansas. More information to follow.
