Czech and Slovak Club of Greater Kansas City was organized in 1984 by immigrants and those of Czech and Slovak descent and their families.
Sharing, preserving and perpetuating the traditions and customs is our goal. We want to teach the younger generations about the history, language and culture of the region.
Currently, our heritage is shared at meetings through food, fellowship, music and educational programs for the entire family.
Keeping our members informed is the quarterly newsletter. Members are kept up to date on functions to participate in, reports on activities and given information of heritage interest.
Club members in costume participate in various activities, including the Kansas City Ethnic Enrichment Commission and upon request, provide cultural programs at local schools.
The club’s programs are based on holiday traditions, cultural information, Czech and Slovak foods and fellowship. Traditional activities are:
- Winter Annual Meeting
- March Ethnic Enrichment Diplomatic Ball
- July Picnic
- September St. Wenceslas Dinner
- December St. Mikulas Dinner and Party
